This book is about the voyage in-between when he leaves japan and when he arrives at England. Jack Akiko and Yori travel out to the distance not knowing what to expect. Soon however problems form and the gang will have to work together to over come them.

Set at the begining of the first book, this follows the thoughts and events leading up to the death of the sailor who hit the deck next to Jack during the opening storm.
