Set between the Xena episodes "Staring death in the eye" and "Lydia." It always bothered me that the events from Be Deviled were never really wrapped up. This attempts to bring them to a satisfactory conclusion.

"Hesfie, do you know one reason I married you?" Aphrodite's voice was calm...too calm. "Because you love me?" "Because I knew you had no PINK in your forge!" Aphrodite shrieked. "And if you ever EVER plan on touching me again, you'll get this changed and NOW! Otherwise, I'll open the biggest can of whoop-ass you've ever seen and it'll have YOUR name on it!"

"Jason said a lot of people came," Iolaus recalled. Hercules laughed again. "Yeah, including half the women in Greece," he teased. "All sobbing and weeping. Even Autolycus was impressed." CHARACTERS: Iolaus, Jason, Hercules

"Herc, you what you told me about walking down this road? And maybe someday finding a place where you'd want to stop?" Iolaus asked. When the demigod nodded, he wearily smiled. "I haven't found that place either." CHARACTERS: Iolaus, Hercules

"So explain to me why my sweet-natured daughter, Alcmene, married a traveling bard and is never around and I have to contend with Lilith...the feisty one." CHARACTERS: Iolaus

Catching his partner's eyes, Hercules mouthed "mighty one" with a teasing glint in his eyes. He started to say something when he caught the warning look Alcmene shot him. Then she gave a similar look to Hades who had covered his mouth with one dark-gloved hand. CHARACTERS: Iolaus, Alcmene, Hercules, Hades, Apollo.

Hercules watched in confusion as Iolaus scrambled to his feet and disappeared into the kitchen. He returned in a few moments carrying a wineskin. "I need something stronger than water for this," he muttered as he sat back down. CHARACTERS: Hercules, Iolaus

"A slight accident," Alcemene answered glancing around the kitchen. "Just like this was a slight accident." The three men looked around the kitchen. "Mother, this wasn't a slight accident," Hercules shook his head. "It was an unmitigated disaster," Iphicles added. Characters: Hercules, Iolaus, Iphicles, Jason, Alcmene

"Hercules is younger than either of us. So how is it, he tells US what to do?" Iolaus' blue eyes twinkled in amusement. "Ummm...'cause he's bigger than us?" Characters: Hercules, Iphicles, Iolaus, Alcmene, Aphrodite, Zeus

"You know what gets me?" Jason angrily muttered. "Iolaus. Sitting over there as petted and cossetted as a Prince of Egypt while we're killing ourselves!" Characters: Alcmene, Hercules, Iolaus, Jason.

Hesphaestus looked at the demigod. "Hercules. Should I rescue Hermes?" His dark eyes twinkled. "No," Hercules promptly replied. Hesphaestus nodded. "My thought, too." He briefly smiled then disappeared.
